There’ll be bands around the edges about an inch or so wide, so I’ve managed to get it to fit.
Now, with about 8″ or so to go, I’ve got the pattern semi-memorized, well, OK, the easier rows anyway, but I’m not slavishly peering at the chart throughout the rows. (shhh! I’m starting to get bored & looking toward starting something new…knitting ADD at work again! Doesn’t help that I keep ordering luscious yarns that I want to work with…)

that looks like it is shaping up quite nicely – I can tell by looking at that pattern that it is just the kind I really hate to knit – I did a Brocade X pattern a few years ago and thought I might kill myself (and it was only 4″ square).
I agree with you on the project inspiration and envy!
