I’m sorry I have no lovely lace photos to share–but the rest of you have been taking care of that these last few days–what beautiful work we’re seeing!
I was feeling rather schizophrenic last week, trying to keep four lace projects up in the air, while finishing one sweater, starting another, and so on. I am backing off, because work is a bit heavy right now. I don’t know why I tend to look for more things to do when I have less time. I really need to spend more time on fewer projects. So I am focusing on this one, a skirt for my friend Miriam. It’s in Louet Euroflax, which is lovely to knit with. But I cast on three times. The first two times the stitches actually twisted–even though I was very careful not to twist while joining. This has never happened to me before–never! The linen was just too hard to handle on my 32″ needles, I guess. So I cast on the third time and knit back and forth for three rows before joining. I’ll sew the ahlf-inch up later. This worked like a charm, although I was quite paranoid and checked after every round to be absolutely sure they still weren’t twisting. They weren’t. It worked out well in the end, because I really needed a looser cast-on, and that’s what I got the third time. This will really allow the lace ruffle to flow.
I’ve got lots of other knitting happening, but this is it for lace right now. Anyone else feeling a bit burned out on lace?

Sligo – I don’t know that I’m actually burned out – but ready to get the Lam off the needles. It’s an estimated two weeks from being finished. A sock was finished last night because I couldn’t face any lace. Today I bought yarn for the Almeara gloves and am trying to work out the stitch count for a friend’s beanie.
Uh oh….maybe I’m a bit whelmed by so much lace after all. Not yet overwhelmed at least. Socks and beanies are nice alternatives and there’s an endless need for them.
