Finally, my Laminaria project

I finished my Laminaria shawl back in Feb. but I never managed to get a picture taken. I knitted it using a hand dyed merino wool lace weight yarn that I had in my stash (yardage was approx. 875 yds for 4 oz.). I started out on size 5 needles and was about to get on a plane home when one of the needles broke. Since I saw an AC Moore on the road to the airport, I made my husband stop and I ran in to get another pair of needles so I would be able to knit while flying home. However, the smallest size needle they had was a size 6. Luckily, I was at a point in the pattern where I could change the needle size with minimal impact so I bought the larger size needle and finished the shawl with the larger size and it still came out well.

The shawl is my Mother’s birthday present and the picture is of her wearing it.

Thank you for your kind comments. I agree – It is interesting how the colors can affect the final shawl using the same pattern. I have really enjoyed seeing all the different shawls in the KAL.
