Finished or not?

This is the final project that I started over the winter. For a number of years I have had this lovely skein of handdyed alpaca lace weight yarn. It was dyed to order and I had planned to make a triangular shawl from it. However, when I started the shawl, it wasn’t working the way I had invisioined and I ripped it all out. I saw the yarn while looking for some yarn to make the Laminaria KAL and realized that it would make a lovely set of Moebius scarves made using the method described in Fiber Trends Lace Moebius Scarf (AC-39) by Sarah Hauschka. I have had the pattern for years and I only started the first scarf with her pattern and then moved on to my own design. That one is finished. I started the second scarf and finally remembered what is was that bothered  me in the shawl.

The yarn is dyed to give increasing amounts of different shades of blue and though I love the center colors they are more of a turquoise than a blue and the contrast was more than I wanted in the shawl. I cut the yarn and started a new scarf and when it is finished (I almost finished it on the 21st but not quite. I’ll get it finished this week.), I’ll use the last two colors on the skein to finish the second one.

For the last two scarves, I changed the cast on so that I removed the hardest step in the pattern. Instead of using a regular cast on, I used the invisible cast on over the cable of a pair of circular needles (I think this is from Evelyn Clark?) and cast on half the number of stitches since I would be picking up the stitches created by the extra cable. I also went with my own lace patterns which are hard to see in the picture. The first two (the finish and least finished) were/are knitted using US 2 Addi Lace needles. The turquoise is knitted on a US 4. It is a much looser knit than the other two.

I wanted to clarify something. I found the reference to the cast on that I used and it isn’t Evelyn Clark but Elizabeth Zimmerman.

    Sorry for the confusion.
