I just got home from a Christmas trip to Pittsburgh to visit my son and his new wife. I got my mail and discovered two packages waiting for me. Much more fun than the bills I usually get. I got the lovely skeins of yarn and pattern from Blue Moon Fiber Arts and the terrific stitch [...]
I really found it fun to go back and look at the projects again. I decided this season to post more and also to nominate projects for prizes. I even found a new pattern for a difficult yarn that I wanted to use. I’ll post on that next season…
She was knit with Perchance to Knit’s Harlot’s Peacock which is why she is called Streetwalker. She is a beautiful shawl but I did find the knitting of the lace portion to be quite challenging. I have more pictures on my Ravelry project page.
I have made it through the lace portion. I needed lifelines every two rows and lots of markers. I understood that it was only a 6 stitch repeat but the rows were just far too long for me to be correct all the way across it. I am now on the garter stitch section and [...]
The pattern: Anne Hanson’s Almost Ovals. The town: Estes Park, Colorado. The place, Romantic Riversong, our private deck. A perfect place for knitting (and drinking beer). Ah, vacation!
Well I didn’t blog about this shawl which I started in May and finished in June but it is lace and I must admit I am very pleased with the way she turned out. I had really felt for a long time that this design was beyond my capabilities and that’s why I gave it [...]
It seems that I almost never just buy a patten and start it. My purchased patterns and yarns usually must “ripen” for awhile before they get knitted up. This is the time of year that I start to think about Christmas gifts and because we usually bike or hike on weekends, I think about something [...]
I’ve been working on the edging for a week now and it measures 72 inches, more or less. I have 16 repeats left to go. While I generally prefer to knit from a chart, I am using a spreadsheet designed by canadiancrafter (you can find a link on my Rav project page where I favorited [...]
I began Rock Island yesterday. Did my customary set of froggings searching for a good needle and then I really messed up Row 8 of the third repeat and decided to start over. I am using a 16 inch KnitPicks circular because it had the sharpest tip in my collection. I wish I had really [...]
I won the prize for the large shawl and I have chosen Mary White’s Covington Shawl which is now in my Ravelry library. Thank you, Mary, and everyone at Seasons of Lace. I always enjoy reading this blog and seeing everyone’s amazing creations! Janine
