Fairly recently, I’ve discovered the perfect thing to keep me warm (or help with it) while walking the dog.  Oddly enough, it was wisp.   It’s just a fluff of lace, a tiny bit of thing.  I knit it years ago (before I joined Ravelry apparently).  And I finally figured out a great way to wear [...]

Cast on

A couple of weeks ago, I cast on for a pair of socks. Really, it’s my Finance Professor’s fault.  He’s a good teacher, but he just..keeps..talking.   I like him.  But there was just a wee bit too much down time between note taking bursts for me.  But not enough to do a more complex lace [...]

Slow starter

I knit quite a lot of lace in the off-season. I thought a fair amount about lace in this season. I positively obsessed over spinning lace (without successfully spinning any, but it was enough to dissuade me from casting on with any existing, perfectly good lace yarn I might happen to have lying around the [...]

I’ve cast on for the Kernel Scarf which is intended to be a present for my MIL for Christmas.  Yes, I know it’s absolutely wrong to knit Christmas presents in September, but I need something to distract me from my homework. And yes, the yarn really does glow like that.  That yarn is the wool/tussah [...]

Feeding my addiction

A couple weeks ago a friend asked if anyone would be willing to knit her a frilly sweater; if she bought the yarn.  I’m not up for knitting sweaters for other people, but I offered to knit Annis for her instead.  She asked for recommendations on yarns and I sent her a couple of links, [...]

Mixing it Up

I’m playing around with stitch patterns on this. The intention is to create something lacey, yet warm, simple, yet complicated enough to mix up colours on variegated yarn. It also doesn’t curl, something I can’t stand in scarves. This photo doesn’t really do it justice, it will need a good blocking to open up the [...]

It’s my first Annis, but there have been a lot of them posted on the blog lately, and I’m just adding to their number. I’m knitting it in Luxury collection Alpaca Cashmere. It’s really lovely, and I’m enjoying my first experience of doing nupps in fingering.

scarves anyone?

I realize that we don’t generally wear scarves in the summer but I do have to get some made for the fall. The first two were actually finished just before the season began but I only just got pictures of them. The aqua was hand knit and I made up the pattern as I went [...]

A week ago, I finished my Maude shirt. I didn’t post it to SoL right away because I was visiting my folks in Minnesota.  Here it is in all its glory. I’ll try to get a better picture,  as apparently I don’t have the skillz to take a good pic in the bathroom mirror.  But, [...]
